Nokia X3 is another music-oriented phone from the Nokia latest lineup X. The Nokia X3 is designed almost like Nokia X6, but unlike like Nokia X6, the Nokia X3 is not a smart phone. It is only an entry-level phone with an affordable price and still, the phone is designed for music lovers who love listening music all the time. This is one of the first few S40 phones in the world to be Ovi store-enabled. Ovi offers services which include a variety of games and other applications. The Nokia X3 is a slide opening handset and it is very dashing and smart looking handset with slider casing and beautiful color combinations including Red on Black and Blue on Silver colored casings.
Nokia X3 Design
Nokia X3 has a 2.2 inches active matrix technology display which has a resolution of 240 X 320 pixels and supports up to 262,144 colors. Below the display, you will find two customary selection keys on the left corner and right corner along with the call key and the end key. In between these four keys, there is a D pad for smooth navigation and access of the applications. On the left portion of the display, you will find three short cut keys for music playback with rewind, forward and pause/play keys. Nokia X3 is a slider device and when it is slid open; you will find the keypad with stylish metallic design. Nokia X3 is weighs only 103 grams and has dimension of 96 x 49.3 x 14.1 mm. This mean it is really comfortable to hold this handset in your pocket or handbag.
Nokia X3 Software & Interface
Nokia X3 runs on Symbian platform of series 40 which is the 6th edition UI, which is quite easy to handle. While S40 is
not a smart phone operating system due to the lack of a native programming model and the lack of multitasking, it is still impressive and many more people use S40 rather than S60. The user interface is very similar to older S40 versions with a few improvements. The user interface has an active standby mode with applications shortcuts bar which hold shortcuts for functions such as the FM radio, calendar, Opera Mini, alarm, etc and notifications. Under that and there are 3 tabs, for music player radio, Ovi Store & Email. These tabs, and the shortcut bar are easily customizable and menu allows you to order applications as a list, a grid and a tab. Series 40 6th Edition also provides improved support to Adobe Flash with the inclusion of the Flash Lite 3 Player. In addition to playing stand-alone Flash Lite content and applications and offering animated screen savers, Flash Lite can also be used to create animated “organic” wallpaper for Series 40 devices. Series 40 users can now experience a desktop-like Web browsing experience with support for HTML 4.01, CSS2, JavaScript™ 1.5, and Ajax.
Nokia X3 Music
Nokia X3 brings high-end music player with Dedicated Music Keys, Stereo Speaker, Volume Key and 3.5 mm audio jack. The music player supports for MP3, WAV, eAAC+ and WMA music files and naturally the A2DP profile is supported, allowing the use of stereo Bluetooth earphones. The battery when fully charged enables you to listen to music for complete 26 hours. The music player is very easy to use with the dedicated music keys or the D-pad and your tracks are quickly and conveniently sorted in relevant playlist, artist, album and genre. The sound experience is enhanced by 5 equalizer presets, which include 3 normal & 2 customisable presets with stereo widening options. Moreover, the Nokia X3 empowers you to customize the media player and radio skin with any theme that suits your style and personalit. You could choose for different light effects when music is played. This basically involves the rhythmic blinking of the backlight of the D-pad.With 70MB of internal memory, a fair number of tracks can be stored on your handset. There is, however, a microSD card slot that will allow you to increase this storage capacity up to 16GB if desired. The special feature known as “Comes with music” enables you to download and organize any music track which is available across the several Nokia music stores. Music can be easily arranged on Nokia X3 as the device is supportive to Nokia Music Manager Software which trace music files loaded in the computer and then transferring them in the device. The default player in the system is the Windows Media Player and this player can convert any music file to the eAAC+ file format before transferring in the device. Having eAAC+ music files is beneficial for those who have limited memory in the mobile phone. This particular type of music files is condensed and hence it does not occupy that much space in the device. So, you can load numerous music files and enjoy non-stop music.
The Nokia X3 also includes stereo FM radio with RDS (Radio Data System) feature which allows the users to view radio information, including time, station identification and programme information, while enjoying music through favorite radio stations. It features a built in antenna, so you don’t even have to plug in your headphone to turn it on. If there is no headset plugged in, the radio plays straight on the stereo speakers, making it a great portable radio.
In order to enhance your listening experience a 3.5 mm audio jack to allow you to use your favorite earphones. The Nokia X3 also features downloadable polyphonic and MP3 ringtones and several games complete the whole multimedia package of the device.
For videos, Nokia X3 able to play MPEG4, H263 and H264 coded content with maximum resolution of 320×240 pixels. Videos can be played in full screen mode, as well as fast-forwarded or rewound. The option to hide soft key captions to make better use of the full screen mode also improves the viewing experience. The player works in the background appearing on the active standby tab.
Nokia X3 Camera
The Nokia X3 come up with a 3.2 mega pixel camera with CMOS sensor which captures images at 2048 x 1536 pixels and can shoot video in QCIF resolution with the rate of 15fps. The camera comes with an array of imaging and video features including 4 x Digital Zoom, Full Focus, Photo Editor, Capture Mode, color Tone 4x Video Zoom and several video settings which help the user to take quality images and record videos as well. Shooting in both portrait and landscape mode are also among the available options. The user can use their screen as a picture or video viewfinder and capture pictures easily using the dedicated capture key.
Nokia X3 Conectivity
The Nokia X3 provides excellent connectivity and networking facilities. The X3 is an ideal companion for users who frequently travel as it supports 2G quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks, which mean it, will work on any GSM network worldwide and automatically switches between GSM bands. This cell phone is powered by EDGE Class 32 and GPRS Class 32 technologies, which ensures superb file sharing and exchanging rates. Wireless file transfers data between the two devices is also allowed through the Bluetooth v2. The Nokia X3 also supports a micro USB connection port which allows the users to use the connectivity cable between devices and users can gain a cabled connection when transferring data between their Nokia X3 and other devices including another mobile phone, computer or a printer.
Nokia X3 browser
The Nokia X3 comes with pre-installed WAP 2.0/xHTML browsers based on the WebKit which allow users to access the internet directly on their phones at a high speed. The browser delivers support for HTML 4.01, CSS2, JavaScript 1.5, and Ajax. Also the Nokia X3 can run the Opera Mini web browser to enhance the user’s web browsing experience.
Nokia X3 Messaging
This handset offers standard SMS or text and MMS or multimedia messaging services. It also supports the threaded conversation view. With it instead of individual messages you get a list of contacts you’ve had an SMS exchange with, the one with the latest message comes up on top. You can chat with other online users using your device via Nokia Messaging IM, and support for Windows Live Messenger. You may also access email accounts and compose, send or receive email messages right through phone. Email function in the handset has been revamped. You now get all the pre-loaded settings of Ovi Mail, Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo! Besides this you can easily set up a customized IMAP4 or POP3 account. The X3 uses the Nokia Messaging Mail email client, which enables combine all your inboxes from different providers into one, including support multiple email accounts. One of the negative point is that the handset does not support any document viewer.
Nokia X3 Phone&Organizer
The Nokia X3 is reliable with its organizer tools that include phone book, calendar, calculator, clock, alarm clock, and vibration alert and flight mode selections. Making or taking calls are made easier with integrated speaker phone, as well as auto redial, call waiting, call hold, call divert and call log options. The phonebook of the Nokia X3 stores up to 2000 contacts and that should be more than enough. You can assign ringtones to each contact. There’s also an option for a video ringtone, which will run on an incoming call. Ovi Contacts integrates tightly with the Nokia X3 phonebook as a new tab and offers an IM client with a twist. You can search for people already registered with Ovi or send an invitation to anybody using Gmail since the Ovi contacts supports G-Talk, Google’s own IM, as well. Thanks to this service you will be able to chat in real time with all your Ovi/Google Talk-connected contacts, change your status messages and mood, and all that kind of social networking stuff. You can put Contacts on the home screen, which shows the number of friends online and a message when you receive one, complete with sound notifications for a contact getting online and a new message.
Nokia X3 Applications
The rich pre installed set of applications is another plus point in X3. The Nokia OVI store offers full support to the Nokia X3, meaning that downloading is quick and easy. There is also some other useful applications such as voice recorder with a 60-minute limit, useful unit converter, Google Search, Flickr app that should allow you to upload your photo’s to the popular image sharing site, Opera Mini, Share on Ovi and Ovi Contacts, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, To-Do manager that enables you to rank tasks in three priority levels.
Nokia X3 Battery
Another amazing feature of this handset is its standard Li-Ion 860 mAh (BL-4CT) battery that provides standby time of up to 200 hours and talk time of up to 7 hours and 30 minutes.
